The Sports Injury Doctor

Welcome! My name is Dr Alastair Jones. I’m a Sports Medicine and Musculoskeletal Physician, known as The Sports Injury Doctor. You can find out more about me here.

With over 15 years of experience in this field, I’ve created and I lead a number of sports injury clinics across Leeds and Bradford, West Yorkshire. These clinics are multi-professional, meaning I work alongside physiotherapists, radiologists and orthopaedic surgeons, to ensure that you get to see the right person at the right time, to treat your MSK injury in a timely manner.

From the elite, to the weekend warrior, my team will support you to return to pre-injury levels of fitness as quickly and safely as possible.

Pain-free movement matters

When you have an MSK injury that affects your day-to-day life or participation in sport, it can be painful and frustrating.

With 18 million people experiencing MSK issues every year, statutory waiting lists exceeding 7 million, and many people unable to see the right clinician quickly, your injury can become chronic. Associated MSK and wider health concerns can follow, and the fear that you may never regain your normal function is real.

Because you are the centre of my focus.

Here are some typical injuries I see in clinic:

  • Joint injuries
  • Joint pain
  • Tendinopathy / tendinitis
  • Bone stress reactions and stress fractures
  • Concussion

My philosophy is to diagnose, treat and prevent.

With clinical evaluation and diagnostic testing to find the cause of your problem, the following tools and treatments are available to support your recovery:

  • In-clinic MSK ultrasound
  • X-ray, CT and MRI
  • Viscosupplementation, steroid and PRP injections
  • Physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation
  • Onward surgical referral, if necessary

By addressing the underlying problem and using the most up-to-date evidence-based therapies, my team and I will help you achieve your goals. This includes guidance and advice on how to prevent your injury from recurring.

I invite you to read Henry’s story. This real-life case study gives you an example of how this all works.
